MKE FreshAir Collective is proud to announce the launch of Breath of Promise, a one-of-a-kind mural project created in partnership with TRUE Skool and the Century City Tri-angle Neighborhood Association. Located in Milwaukee’s historic Century City neighborhood, this mural isn’t just a work of art — it’s a powerful tool for environmental justice and community education.
Designed and painted by youth artists from TRUE Skool, the mural is made with air-purifying paint enhanced with Zeolite, a special mineral that captures and neutralizes harmful air pollutants like carbon dioxide, volatile organic compounds, and other pollutants. It actively cleans the air while serving as a public reminder of our collective responsibility to protect the environment.
An air quality sensor will be installed alongside the mural, providing real-time, hyper-local air quality data to the community and sending automated alerts to elected officials whenever pollution levels rise. Together, this creative and technological collaboration promotes clean air awareness and gives residents tools to protect their health.
We’re deeply grateful to Yvonne McCaskill and the Century City Tri-angle Neighborhood Association for their leadership and partnership in bringing this vision to life, and to TRUE Skool for empowering Milwaukee’s youth to use their voices and talents for social good.
This project was made possible in part by a grant from the American College of Chest Physicians (CHEST) Community Impact Grant program.
Stay tuned for the mural unveiling on June 26th, 2025 — and join us as we celebrate art, health, and community action!
